In addition to the homework listed below, your assignment is to study and review what we've done in class for 10-15 minutes EVERY NIGHT. No written assignment doesn't mean that you don't have studying to do!
NOTE!!!!!!!! This page should be checked DAILY for changes in homework
assignments. Although these assignments are usually correct for all periods of Mrs.
Hurt's French 1 classes, some periods of the same course may pace
themselves slightly faster or slower than another class. Should the class
be moving quickly, some assignments may be already completed in class.
Should the class not finish certain exercises, they may be added to the
homework. STUDENTS are responsible for LISTENING in class for any last
minute changes made to this homework schedule.

My apologies...when I copy from my word file the apostrophes and accented letters change and some of the marks below look odd. (For example, all apostrophes end up as the letter i with an 'accent aigu' above it!)

FRENCH EMERGENCY AT-HOME PLANS
In case school must be cancelled/closed due to overwhelming illness, please follow the following daily assignment schedule. If only three days are cancelled, you are only expected to do the first three days of work, etc.

Day 1: Irregular Verb review
Use your quick reference sheet and make verb-conjugation note cards for the following verbs and practice them. If you have not yet learned the verb, find the forms of the verb in your textbook and practice them.
AVOIR
PRENDRE
 ETRE
ALLER

Day 2: Regular Verb review
Review the endings for regular verbs with the ìMickey Mouseî song I taught you.
Explain how to conjugate a regular verb to a parent or grandparent or college age sibling ---someone who is old enough to understand--- and give them a couple of practice sentences. See how they do. You learn the most when you teach someone else to do something, so give it your best shot!

Day 3: Writing review
Writing Assignment: Answer the following questions in complete sentences in writing on a piece of notebook paper. This is due when we get back to school.
Quíest-ce que tu fais aujourdíhui?  Est-ce que tu dois faire le mÈnage? Est-ce que tu fais tes devoirs?
If we are already past Chapter 7, add the following:
Describe each member of your family in French.

Day 4: School Supply Vocab review
Using your Chapter 3  notes, make a memory/matching game (picture on one card, word on another) using school supply  vocabulary and play with a family member. Want to see how much they learn? Give them a pre-test and a post-test and see how many words theyíve learned by seeing how many more words they know after the game as compared to before the game.

Day 5: Culture
Read an article having to do with some current event happening in France. Print the article and return it to me when we get back to school. Be ready to stand up and tell the class a short summary of the current event that you read about.

Days 6 & 7: Le Film- Listening to Native Speakers
Find a movie at home or at the library and watch the movie with the French track on, not English! If you have seen the movie before and know the storyline, turn off the English subtitles.
Written Assignment: Keep a piece of notebook paper with you and write down all of the French words you recognize from the film.
Extra fun--- French film 'Mad Libs': Watch a French movie that you have NOT seen before in French with NO English subtitles and do the above written assignment. Then, jot down a quick summary of what you THINK happened in the movie, since you had no subtitles. Then, watch the movie again with subtitles and see how much you understood. Do this with a friend or parent and see whose guess is closer to the real storyline. It can be lots of fun!

Days 8 & 9 & 10: Do you have travel plans?! Letís go to Europe!
Research a vacation destination in any French speaking country. (Forget what these countries are? Look at the map at the beginning of your textbook.)
Writing Assignment: Create a travel brochure (in English) to tell others in our class about the destination. Include: exact location (with a map), pictures and descriptions of local attractions, places you might want to stay, best ways to get there, pricing for various activities, etc. The goal of your brochure is to ATTRACT VISITORS.
